Vertafore, SR. UX designer: September 2010 – present

• UX strategy and implementation including moving the application from desktop client experience into hosted web service (Saas). Leading the UX effort for a 45 person SCRUM based development team. Leading a 4 person dedicated UX team.

• Created design of  V1 identity management system (web service)

• Build UX practice with the UX director for Vertafore as senior member of the UX team. Includes design processes, role definition, communication to team and executives

Amazon, UI Designer (full time)

• Lead design for seller experience for Chinese market, sign-up and core experience

• Drove UX improvements for US seller experience including Kaizen process, incremental upgrades and list grid core designs (prototype)

 

Microsoft, UX Designer (contractor)

• Participated in creating experience for MultiPoint Server (software and hardware integration). Program management and user experience design for new product in the Windows family

• Drove user experience design for educational software involving multiple mice. Experience geared towards developing countries, including interaction flows to final look and feel

• Website design for marketing effort for overall group

• Concept for web service offering for educational market. Strategy and concept work for web and mobile initiative including a communication accumulator (combining email, RSS and social networking feeds).

• User experience consulting for business application development; business intelligence; intra- extranet solutions; and websites for marketing plus other departments

• Responsibilities included evaluations, usability tests, field research, customer and sales relationships, wireframes, detailed designs, UX strategy and 1:1 consulting with customers

User Experience Program Manager / Designer, Microsoft Office Business Applications

• Responsible for all user experience for Microsoft PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer, and branding for PerformancePoint suite

• Led and drove all UI and UX activities, alignment and coordination including overall responsibility for application shell, navigation paradigm, look and feel and research alignment, including complete redesign of business intelligence application

• Managed three feature teams and virtual UX team

• Managed all user research for application including usability tests and site visits

• Led product design and usability for Business Contact Manager for Outlook 12 including all design, prototyping and majority of research initiatives

• Improved usability and product design on team by internalizing and creating processes including iterative designs processes and cross-team collaboration

• Interaction and Product design for Small Business Accounting 2006 including branding elements, web service integration (Microsoft and third parties)

• Created design, drove review process for partner e-commerce site

Navision (Denmark), Field Researcher/Usability Engineer, September 2000 - September 2003

• Managed usability, field research and community building for small-business online ‘lifestyle’ accounting application including leading beta program user feedback loop

• Supported program management team in Navision with requirement gathering, weekly contextual design sessions and design reviews

• Recruited for site visits and usability tests. Managed, ran and reported usability tests. Deliveries included personas, company profiles, usability test reports, use cases and final reports on participatory design sessions

• Developed, managed and sold quantitative and qualitative Web media analysis including: usability, traffic tracking (log and tag based), online surveys, search engine optimizations, and business development studies

• Specialized in interactive communication with focus on usability, design and defining target audience for community building. Wrote thesis on usability testing interactive introduction to Apple Performa Macintosh and master thesis on community building for the elderly on the internet, including interactive prototype of site
